In 2003, a knife appeared on cinema screens worldwide that knife enthusiasts had never seen before. In the movie The Hunted — starring Tommy Lee Jones and Benicio del Toro — a distinctive wide-bellied tracker knife with a serrated spine became the centrepiece of some of the most intense wilderness survival and combat scenes ever filmed. Within weeks of the film's release, knife collectors and outdoor enthusiasts worldwide began searching for it.

The Tracker Knife — A Design Unlike Any Other
The tracker knife is not a standard hunting knife with a different name. It is a genuinely distinct multi-purpose blade design built around the idea that one knife should handle every wilderness task a serious outdoorsman could face. The design features multiple functional zones across a single blade:

The wide drop point belly — a dramatically curved, wide cutting section optimised for skinning, slicing, and heavy cutting tasks. The pronounced recurve concentrates cutting force and creates exceptional slicing efficiency through hide, rope, and vegetation.

The serrated spine — aggressive saw teeth running the full length of the spine provide cutting capability from the reverse direction — useful for notching wood, cutting through bone, processing cordage, and batoning tasks where a smooth edge would slip.

The choil notch — a cutout at the base of the blade near the handle allows you to choke up your grip for fine precision work giving a large blade the controllability of a much smaller knife when the task demands it.

The Steel — D2 for Survival Performance
Survival knives face harder use than almost any other knife category — batoning, chopping, prying, sustained cutting, exposure to moisture and dirt. D2 tool steel is built for exactly this kind of punishment.

With approximately 1.5% carbon and 11–13% chromium, hardened to 58–60 HRC, this blade delivers:

• Edge retention that holds through sustained wilderness use without constant resharpening
• Wear resistance that keeps both the primary edge and the serrated spine sharp through hard outdoor work
• Semi-stainless corrosion behaviour meaningful protection against rust in wet outdoor conditions

Wipe clean after use, oil the blade periodically, store in the sheath and this knife will perform at full capability for decades.

Full Tang — Survival Grade Construction
